Professional Development Opportunities

As a research and model demonstration site, LSU is invested in helping our teachers reach their professional goals. There are multiple paths available to teacher wishing to further their education.

 

LSU Staff tuition exemption

Staff at the ECELP are eligible for tuition exemption after one year of employment to pursue higher education.


 

Louisiana Pathways

Louisiana Pathways will cover costs for Technical College, Community College or University courses for child care employees working a minimum of 16 hours per week as a teacher or assistant teacher.


 

On-site access to no-cost clock hours

Staff working at the ECELP have access to LSU courses taught on-site at the center. Courses are taught by ECE faculty who are also Pathways Certified Trainers. Staff can sign up to attend a class lecture that addresses any of the requisite topic areas identified by Louisiana Bulletin 130:

  • child development;
  • child guidance;
  • child abuse prevention;
  • emergency preparation;
  • licensing regulations;
  • learning activities;
  • health and safety;
  • shaken baby prevention;
  • CPR;
  • first aid; and
  • management/administrative education.
