LSU Launches Office of Innovation and Ecosystem Development

LSU announced August 23, that five of LSU’s entities that support innovation and business development have joined forces under the new Office of Innovation and Ecosystem Development.

LSU Innovation Park, the Louisiana Business & Technology Center, Louisiana Technology Transfer Office, the LSU Small Business Development Center, and the Office of Innovation and Technology Commercialization are part of the new organization, whose goal is to provide better support for entrepreneurship in the region.

Andy Maas, who was recently announced as the new Associate Vice President of Innovation and Ecosystem Development at the new office says, “All of our services are accessible to the LSU community. This new structure will provide for better service to LSU and outside-of-the-university businesses that utilize our services. I am encouraged that this will make LSU an even better collaborator and strategic partner for business, innovation, commercialization and technology transfer.” 

When the Office of Innovation and Ecosystem Development is fully staffed, it will have approximately 24 full-time and 10-12 student employees. Jason Boudreaux is the new Associate Director of Entrepreneur Services and Kristy Barlow is the new Assistant Director of Operations. Applications will soon be accepted for two other new positions being offered. 

The LSU Office of Innovation and Ecosystem Development staff plans to work together to provide easier access for the business community and stronger communication across departments. LSU Innovation Park will maintain a presence at its current location, to continue providing services to current and future tenants.
