                     Research
One projectinvolves the design of radiation sensor(s)using Additive Manufacturing techniques.
This design includes consideration of factors that have the potential of altering
the performance of the sensor over its service life, such as moisture and humidity. Another
project in our group supported by CIMM is studying input parameters in Selective Laser
Melting (SLM) of AISI 316L Stainless Steel that will result in optimal desired material properties.
Nanoindentation analysisis being conducted to determine nanohardness, elastic modulus,
in addition to fracture toughness, wear resistance and hardness uniformityof statistically
varied input parameters. Coupled with microstructural characterization, the impact
of these inputs on SLM manufactured components would be determined and predicted.
