Discover Nature Programs

Through a partnership with the Louisiana Master Naturalist of Greater Baton Rouge (LMNGBR) we are proud to offer exciting new Discover Nature programs featuring local and national experts who are in touch with nature and are eager to share their experiences. All programs will be held in the Imo Brown Complex in the Beverly Brown Coates Auditorium at Hilltop Arboretum. Discover Nature programs are free for Members Magnolia Level ($250) and above.

 

"Recycling & Repurposing in Baton Rouge"

reduce, reuse, recycle, biodegradable, compostable,  logoIn recognition of Earth Day (April 22), LSU Hilltop Arboretum’s Discover Nature series will explore recycling and repurposing efforts in the Baton Rouge community.

This panel-style program will feature representatives from Glass Half Full, Republic Services, Keep Tiger Town Beautiful, and Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council. Speakers will discuss how materials are collected, processed, and repurposed locally, common misconceptions about recycling, and practical steps residents can take to reduce waste and increase diversion from landfills.

Topics will include glass recycling innovation, municipal recycling systems, litter prevention, community cleanup initiatives, and specialty material recycling options available in the Capital Region.

This program is designed for residents, educators, businesses, and anyone interested in strengthening environmental stewardship through informed, responsible waste practices.
