About Theatre
Whether you have a passion for being on stage or are more interested in working behind the scenes, the School of Theatre offers you the opportunity to realize your dreams. It’s one of only a handful of programs in the country with an affiliate professional theatre, Swine Palace, which enables you to work alongside leading professionals while earning your degree.
Concentrations Available
Arts Administration
In this program, you will learn about the daily operations of artistic venues like museums, theatres, and performance houses. Arts administrators can be responsible for anything from budgeting and fundraising to marketing and public relations for arts and cultural organizations.
Design/Technology
Design/technology offers you a full complement of specialized courses, combined with practical experiences through design and technical production assignments for the School of Theatre, as well as Swine Palace, LSU’s affiliated equity theatre.
Performance
A concentration in theatre performance prepares you to enter a graduate program or pursue a professional career in theatre, film, television, and related fields. Aspiring actors immerse themselves in a variety of performance disciplines including in-depth, sequential training in stage movement/physical theatre, voice, and acting.
Physical Theatre
If you’re more interested by Cirque du Soleil than Broadway, this concentration may be for you. Combining athleticism and theatrical presentation, training ranges from aerial work to contact improvisation.
Theatre Studies
Gain a comprehensive understanding of performance, production, and theatre scholarship, with maximum flexibility in tailoring your own course of study.
