After more than two decades in the U.S. Navy, Nicholas Mullen found himself at a professional crossroads. Moving from military leadership into a private-sector role in cyber risk and project management required more than a change in his title; the transition called for a deeper understanding of how business decisions are made, how teams are led, and how organizations operate outside a military structure. The Louisiana Economy Forecasting Model, maintained by the Department of Economics, provides economic forecasts for Louisiana and the state’s nine metropolitan areas for the current quarter and three quarters ahead. The forecasts for the first quarter of 2026 through the fourth quarter of 2026 suggest continuing slow growth in state employment of 1% but stronger growth of 2% in real GSP.
